My Primary School Days

I was thinking of writing about my school and college days since ages. Finally I have started writing something.

Well, my primary schooling (1st to 4th Grade) was done from Somalwar Primary School, Khamla, Nagpur. The school was near by my house and there were no roads for buses exactly up to the school, so most of the times we used to walk.

I don’t remember my 1st grade for sure. But later years I remember somewhat. The most prominent thing I remember about these years is I was always among top rankers of my class. (Now it’s out of question that who isn’t.). Few of my school friends kaustubh burange, sagar mitkari, sayali devghare and sarang joshi.. Sayali was with me from my nursery to 10th grade almost 12 years of education together. Kaustubh was also with me from 1st to 10th, and then he was in my engineering college. Sarang joshi I forgot his name too when I was in 12th or something. During my undergraduate studies he was in my class again and one day he asked me are you the same Ashutosh.. then I knew his name. Funny.

This sarang fellow was (may be still is) a pure vegetarian and those days we sincerely used to take “dabbas” (Tiffin) and if sometimes we brought some non-veg item we used to run near him and he used run away from us.

That time we were so much afraid of girls, you know. Never used to talk with each other. And then this new girl (Shalaka, wow what a name) came she was very cute. One fine day Kaustubh and me were talking in the class, and our class teacher (Mrs. Deshpande) caught us doing that. So she gave us a punishment….. guess what???? She asked me to sit besides the new girl for like 1 or 2 days. Buhhhuu…. I was so scared,, man… I didn’t like a bit of it. And I am sure; I would have cursed Kaustubh for that.

Talking about Kaustubh, he invited once me for his B’day!! Cool thing right… he used to live nearby my house. So I said mom I will go by myself walking.. mom bought a book to give to Kaustubh as a gift. And I left house. As I was walking walking walking …do you know what happened??? I forgot the road to his house… it was so funny… so I missed his b’day and I came back with the book.. and said “I missed the b’day so what??? I got this new book!! “ hehehe..

My mom got a new “Luna” , it is a two-wheeler, mostly driven by women. One fine day my elder brother Amit, decided that he will drop me to school…(did I mention “elder brother” hehe).. So me, Amit and this new Luna departed from the house.. and I exactly remember where it happened. There is a flour mill near the school (which was owned by my another school friend, I don’t remember his name)…… so my brother says hold me tight I am putting full accelerator (he says he wanted to fly) and suddenly some “guddha” (hole in the streets which is very common on Indian roads) and we were as the same level as the ground was… hehehe…so my brother got fainted ……..some people helped us and you know what I was doing I was acting that I was fainted too…hehehe….. so that mom wont shout at us…..but any ways… nobody was injured except mom’s new Luna .then we came home.. and of course my elder brother got pounding of words……(did I mention “elder brother” that’s an advantage of being younger…. Heheheh).. then mom repainted the Luna(Green to Brown)… spend some big bucks on it….and that time money was a problem man……..so mom was of course irritated.

One day my father decided that instead of walking he could get me a pass (you don’t have to buy tickets everyday…its like for a month) for bus, which will go somewhat near to the school….but my pass was over soon….so I decided to chew it so that the bus conductor cannot see the expiry date of the pass.. haha…. Funny…… I carried for 1-2 months more…hehehehe.

One more bus thing happened with me… one day I decided I will go to mom’s school. Because its fun.. mom will surely buy something for you to eat and other teachers will pamper you.. coz I was so cute….hehehe.. so I took a bus from pratap nagar…which is walking distance from my house….i had like 50 paisas (Indian currency) with me.. I told conductor I want to go to shankar nagar….but he didn’t stop there… and he took me to Sitabuldi (main station of the buses) when everybody got down I was the only one remaining in the bus.,,,, so conductor asked me where do you want to go???? I started crying(hehehehe)) I said I don’t have money …. I just want to go to mom’s school.. which is in shankar nagar…so that conductor made me sit in another bus which left for shankar nagar…and I wasn’t charged any money tooo….I was so happy to see my mother in school..wow..and then I came back home with her…..J

Talking about my extracurricular activities that time… I took a part in a “kawalli”, where lots of people on stage sing together.. and it’s a classical thing….but ours was a funny one…so we got a prize for that… then I took a part in potato bag racing and duet racing Where our one leg was tied to each other.. and I got a prize for one of the twos which was a book… and which was chewed by our dog “sonu” as we left him alone in the house…..hahaha…

Leaving alone in the house….I remember one more thing on that. My parents left me alone in the house and went somewhere and when they came back I was lost……(scary huh??) they were searching the whole house and whole neighborhood. A police complaint was launched. So police was also searching me.. and after hours of searching finally I was found…… do you know where was I???????? Hehehee… I was sleeping in the house below the bed……heehhe.. that was/is so funny…..

And during these days one more incident happened which left its signature that I carry till now and will always I think. I was playing with our tenants and while playing my finger of right hand (next to thumb) was caught in the door and it was cut in two pieces. One thing good in that was the part that was cut wasn’t too big. It was cut around my nail. My parents were not home…. I think mom was called from her school (yes she is a teacher). They took me to a hospital but a government one. My finger was joined again but the shape of the nail is very different….it looks like parrots peak.hehehehee…. and I always say to people my this finger would have looked as the finger on the other hand if I was admitted to a private hospital ..hehehehe…….

I think this is what I remember from primary school days… If I remember some more things I will write that too.
